Description
1936 5C Type Two--Brilliant Finish PR68 PCGS. This is an impeccable Superb Gem proof with medium nickel-gray surfaces that are framed by gorgeous gold and iridescent toning on both sides. The strike is full and the surfaces are pristine. We see no reason to suggest anything short of perfection for this beauty. Like the similarly graded Satin Finish proof in the present sale, only one example of this Brilliant Finish proof has been certified finer than this piece. The numismatist will be interested to learn that both of these coins, the Satin and Brilliant proof examples, were coined from the same obverse die with identical curved die finishing lines below the date. Population: 5 in 68, 1 finer (2/07).(Registry values: N4719)
